About this Group
Although their titles vary, members of the Affirmative Action
Panel are responsible for overseeing institutional compliance
with federal and state anti-discrimination laws, conducting affirmative
action and equal opportunity programs, conducting investigations,
and shaping university policy related to equity and diversity.
In addition, many of the panel members are also responsible for
sexual harassment prevention and investigation, disability services,
and Title IX compliance.
Started nearly 20 years ago, the CIC Affirmative Action Panel
was created as an expression of the commitment of the CIC universities
to the principles of affirmative action and is a vehicle for exchanging
information regarding practice and policy in this area. The panel
meets regularly to share information about affirmative action
regulations and issues, and to share information about successful
programs and practices on each campus.
