Chart of more than 100 Less Commonly Taught Languages taught across the CIC
The FLEP 2008 application deadline has passed. 2008 awards will be announced in late spring. The 2009 deadline will be in mid February, 2009.
The CIC is proud to announce that in Summer 2007 17 FLEP awards were granted
to CIC graduate students pursuing the study of less commonly taught
languages (LCTLs).
2007's recipients hailed from eight CIC institutions and they
were hosted by the following 5 CIC universities: University
of Chicago, Indiana University, University of Michigan, University of Illinois, and the University of Wisconsin at Madison. The awardees
studied languages including Arabic, Amharic, Attic Greek, Aymara, Dutch, Farsi, Portuguese, Russian, Modern Tibetan, Uzbek, Wolof, and Zulu.
Thus, the CIC is very proud of the FLEP as it continues to be
a cornerstone resource in the development of promoting LCTLs across
the CIC student body.
